I’m really not good at the bike. I don’t really have a great bike. Just a $75 yard sale mountain bike, that is probaly too long for me. I feel like I’m pedaling to beat the band, but I’m not going anywhere. Going up hill, sometimes, I’m afraid I’ll have to get off, and push. I am shifting gears.

I was just curious…how many miles do yall ride, and how fast are you going. I know it will be different for you experts, but what do you recomend for begginers? (Besides going out and buying and expensive bike) Times are way to tight right now. I have to make do with what I have.

And what’s up with the traffic. OMG I have a tiny little shoulder to ride on that’s all crumbling, so I’m hugging the right hand white line, as close as I can. The cars barely move over, even if there are no cars coming in the other direction. And God forbid they should slow down a wee bit. How do you all ride on highways. You must have nerves of steel.

Well it wasn’t pretty, but I got er done. My heel hurt and I wasn’t all that excited about going. I warmed up and stretched at home, and spent most the time before the race visiting. They fired the gun and I started off slowly. Then about 75 yards in, a friend of mine, who I didn’t know was there, goes running by, waving, “Hello Diana.”

I’m like, “What the hell? Where is she going? I can’t let her out run me.”
So I stepped it up a notch, caught her, and passed her. I’m so twisted, I can’t do anything, without my competitive nature showing it’s ugly face.

Luckily it was 99% dirt road with some cusion for my heel. I felt pretty good. My cardio has seen better days. I had to fight little stitches in both sides, and I was slowing more toward the end. It wasn’t one of my better runs, but I managed to get 3rd in my age group. Get this, 27-45. I’m 45 and I was tempted to lie about my age. LOL

By the time awards were finished I could barely walk, and not much better today. I hope this goes away soon, or I may have to take up biking.

Oh my gosh. I’m supposed to run a 5k Saturday. I haven’t done much running at all this month. Here I have recruited people, at work, to get up and start walking. They are going to join me at this run. They will be seeing me in “action” for the first time, after listening to my stories about “running” up the ski mountains this summer. I’m afraid I’m going to embarrass myself.

I have this horrendous pain in my left heel. I believe it is a bit of the old plantar faciitious. I ran for 30 minutes today and both my feet were killing me. I know I need new shoes, but money is tight, and I’m trying to get by until Christmans. You know, to kill two birds with one stone.

I’ve been working on my aerobics routine, for my class I’ll be teaching, starting in Janurary. I am a bit insecure, so I have to practice everything until I have it down perfect. So, my feet are really taking a beating. Plus I’ve been walking with the girls at work to keep them motivated. Geez, I’m a real cry baby. It’s always something, with me.

Oh well, I’ll survive. If this was all easy, everyone would do it.

And last week I had a goofy schedule at work, and said, “To heck with it.” I did get my master bathroom painted though. (does all that climbing up and down the ladder count?) Four miles today didn’t feel too bad.

I’ve decided to get off my butt, and teach an aerobics class, after the 1st of the year. I also opened my big mouth about it, to some friends, so I won’t wimp out.

We live in the middle of no where. The closest gym is twenty miles away. Our community is kind of poor, I don’t know what kind of turn out I will get. I thought if I offered it with no fee, and put a tip jar out maybe more people would come. I could use the tips to buy music and pay for gas. I’m really doing it for purley selfish reasons. I’m tired of working out alone. LOL

I had a good run this a.m.. Not quite so sore, and I made the 4 miles without stopping. However, while I was running and thinking, I came to the conclusion that I am full of ish. I want to lose weight, but not enough to control what I put into my big mouth. I said my goal was to lose 8 lbs. by Christmas, but I really don’t want to, because I don’t want to stop eating the things I love. I have the knowledge to reach that goal, just not the complete desire, right now. Eventually, I’ll get a bur in my shorts, and decide to put forth the effort. It just aint happening right now. Yesterday, I went to a funeral service, and at the reception I ate a plate full of yummy pot luck food, AND, a big ooey gooey chocolate brownie, and I LOVED every sinful bite.

It really wasn’t that bad. I was just aware of my weakness, and I believe I have a remedy. When I taught aerobics, I did a lot of standing knee lifts, front kicks, and heel kicks to the butt. I think that really helped me get my knees up, when I ran, as well as having a better kick. (right now I have niether) So, on my cross training days I’ll be taking my own aerobics class. I guess I should offer a class to my friends and coworkers. It’s always more fun torturing others as well as myself.

O.K. my half is done, time to set some new goals. I would like to conquer my hand to mouth disease. I am 5′7″ and weigh 148. At my leanest and meanest the best I could get was 135 for about a month. I was teaching aerobics, living single, and eating better. Eating is the hardest thing for me to do right. I’ve given up drugs, alcohol, ciggarettes, caffeine, and sweets. Now if I could just give up peanutbutter and jelly sandwiches with potatoe chips for lunch, and chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and gravy for dinner, I’d be doing great. I would like to set a goal of losing 8 pounds by Christmas. I don’t have a lot of hope, because even as I sit here typing, I’m thinking of having something to eat. The good thing is that wrestling season is starting soon and I always seem to cook better for my boys then. More lean protein and fruits and veggies. I have the knowledge but no self control. If anyone has any suggestions short having my mouth wired shut or breaking my arms. I’d love to hear it.
