Please advise
O.K. the forcast is 40% chance of rain the day before, the day of, and two days after my marathon. Chances are good that it’s going to rain. Anyone having advice for me running in the rain. I’m all ears. Thanks in advance. ![]()

Well, I reached my 2009 goal of running a full marathon. It was awesome. Then I took 6 months off, and gained back every pound I lost. :( No one but myself to blame, and I've gone through this my whole life. I don't really have a goal right now. I really wanted to do some eventing with my horse but, it doesn't look like that's going to happen right away. It's kind of a spendy sport, and my horse had some lameness issues so I'm not ready to start jumping her until I find out if she's sound enough. So for now I'm just enjoying riding the trails. And hopefully I'll get off my butt and start running again, before my butt gets too big for my saddle. LOL

Just do it!
Seriously…it’s harder to start than it is to just do it. You can spend all day waiting for the rain to pass. I just my electronics in a baggie, put on a hat so I won’t get rain in my eyes, and go out and have a ball. It’s interesting to try running in different kinds of weather. I think you’ll find you enjoy it.
I love the rain! I add an extra layer of vaseline to my feet which acts as another layer between wet socks and my skin. Lay it on thick. The very best of race day luck to you!
the layer of vaseline on the feet is a great idea, I also read the suggestion to carry a pair of dry socks in your pocket/fannie pack - so that you can put on dry socks mid-race if you so desire.
I ran my 20 mile run in a major downpour from beginning to end and it was about 40 degrees outside! It wasn’t the most fun I have ever had, but you just do it and get through it! You’ll be great!
I would also do the garbage bag or a good large rain pancho or something like that pre-start to be sure you stay as dry as you can before the race starts!
I am getting excited for you! Can’t wait to hear about your success!
Could also bring a light weight plastic bag so that you are somewhat protected and you can remove if able. Or have with you to put on if needed.
